Self-awareness as self-care

There is something very sacred about our nature and the nature of things - the nature of coming together, being together, getting in contact with each other and having a sensitive connection to what we are doing.

Whether you feel drawn to the modalities I work with, or perhaps are more inspired by other healing arts, one thing they all have in common is a focus on awareness - that capacity of consciousness required to understand and integrate our experiences.

The Art of Jin Shin and Esalen massage, as well as Transformational coaching, all have the potential to help us experience life from a more integrated place, healing any perceived disconnect between our mind, body and spirit.

They do so by opening the door to non-verbal information mediated by our body - in other words, helping to link our cognitive functions with the wisdom of our body.
Through the sensations of touch - either the safe and consensual contact between practitioner and client or the compassionate holding of sites on our own body - a somatically based process of self-enquiry is set in motion.

This can also be activated by touching in with ourselves through an embodiment-based approach to coaching.

This process of exploration nurtures our intuition and innate knowing as our rational side relaxes into a deeper, embodied layer of perception.

This, in turn, can create self-awareness of ourselves in daily life, leading to on-going learning and personal development.

As one coaching client put it:
"It felt like just floating down a river, rather than forcing anything. Out of this came more clarity and some exciting next steps."

And... what if an Esalen massage, Jin Shin or Coaching aren't an option or simply don't resonate?

Giving (or getting :-) ourselves a good foot rub is a great start...
